What happens when an employee is diagnosed with COVID-19 in Walla Walla County?
People diagnosed with COVID-19 are encouraged to inform their employer and close contacts right away to bring awareness which can minimize the spread of COVID-19. Employers should cordon off the positive employee’s workspace for a deep cleaning followed by sanitizing and disinfection. The Department of Community Health will contact employers to follow-up on close contacts, cleaning and disinfection processes, COVID-19 safety plans, and to answer any questions. Employers can contact the our local COVID-19 helpline for guidance and support at 509-524-2647. The following PDFs give a step by step guide for employers if an employee is diagnosed with COVID-19.
Guidance for Daily COVID-19 Symptom Screening of Staff and Guests
Get accurate test results, know your testing window.
If you are exposed (a close contact) to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19:
If exposed and experiencing symptoms, get tested right away, even if symptoms are mild.
If exposed and no symptoms, wait 5 -7 days after the exposure to get tested. Rite Aid will take asymptomatic people for testing, most other clinics require symptoms.
If a close contact gets tested and is negative, they still have to remain in quarantine as symptoms and viral load can show up to 14 days post exposure.
